22K gold is 91.7% pure gold mixed with a small amount of other metals for strength. It is popular for bridal sets, bangles and traditional jewellery because it keeps a rich yellow colour. It contains 22 out of 24 parts, or 91.7% gold.
Jewellers in Pakistan often quote 22K for heavy wedding jewellery. It is slightly softer than 21K, so very fine designs may be made in 21K instead.
How the 22K rate is calculated
